Lost And Found Brittanys
(Lost)

Searching for a missing pet can be a terrifying experience. Sometimes, even in the best of homes, your beloved companion may manage to escape an enclosed area or wander too far during a hunt. If you're an animal lover and if this has ever happened to you, you know that the hours, days, and weeks that follow can be a living nightmare.

We hope this page will help reunite missing Brittanys with their owners. If you've lost or found a Brittany and would like the information posted here, please send e-mail and photos to lostfound@americanbrittanyrescue.org with the location, circumstances, and dog's description.

American Brittany Rescue has local State Coordinators who coordinate most ABR activities in their states, including acceptance of dogs into ABR foster care. If you found a Brittany and you would like to discuss transferring the dog to ABR foster care, your ABR State Coordinator may be able to assist.

He does not have a chip and was dragging a stake out line when he was found. He has a good disposition in spite of his poor condition. Please contact me if you have any leads.

zoey

(Texas)

Zoey went missing on 4-24-10 at 6pm.  A search and rescue dog trailed her scent to where it ended and it strongly appears she has been picked up where a cul de sac meets the bayou/trails/water retention ponds. A pet detective verified she as still alive as the weekend.

The coyotes did not get her and she is not dead at the side of the road.  This week findtoto.com conducted a calling of 20,000 phone numbers in the local area.  There is a high probability that she has been moved out of the local area and out of state.

Zoey is micro chipped!!  She is 26 pounds, 5 years old, is of slender build and solid muscle and white and orange and not spayed.  There is a $1,000 reward AND a future pup from her future litter - if the rescuer wants one. Zoey is very fast, friendly and hunts critters 24/7/365.  She likes to have her back/butt rubbed, but does not like the way little children pet her and will nip at them.  She must be walked and be able to run freely on a daily basis. She has had no field trial experience. She scales a 6 foot fence at will. She will come to you if you say "Come Zoey Come".

If any questions or any information please call Patrick D. Quinn, Jr. at 713-504-3022  - 24/7/365 - or email me atpdquinnjr@yahoo.com

There is a small way anyone can help, it is by downloading a poster of Zoey at petamberalert.com and take it to our local vet.  My daughters and I would be honored and your act of help could never be repayed - cause someday Zoey is going to have to go a vet somewhere.

Wilson

(Texas)

We live in Tyler, Texas and Our Brittany escaped from an open door along with our Australian Shepherd on Friday January 8th.  Both dogs are male and just a little over a year old. Neither one was wearing his collar. We are just devastated. They have gotten out on a couple of other occasions but never for this long and never overnight. I am assuming they are still together because they are very close and we've had both of them since they were 6 weeks old. They are both very friendly dogs.  We put out fliers and I am continuing to check with the local shelters but I’m not sure how far they could have gotten by now.  I will attach a link we posted on Craig’s List.  I will also attach some pictures. Our Brittany’s name is Wilson.  If you happen to rescue him please contact me.

Thank you, Meg

10/21/09 Update

My nephew and I have litter mates that are fabulous Brittanys.  They are loved as pet and as quail hunters.  My nephew's brittany, Trigger has been missing for 5 weeks from the South Grand Prairie area.  She dug out and has not been turned in to any local vets.  Trigger has a microchip and ID collar. She turned 3 in September.

Thank you for your help.

Brittanys usually live 12-15 years, so if you are contemplating adoption, please be prepared to make that kind of commitment to the dog. Brittanys love their people and require personal attention every day.

Dogs placed by American Brittany Rescue, Inc. have been rescued from a shelter, found as a stray, or given up by an owner who could no longer keep or care for them. All dogs in foster homes have been (or will be) spayed or neutered, checked for heartworm, and are usually on preventative medication for heartworm. A dog's foster family can give you valuable information about its personality and temperament.

There are many more Brittany's available but not yet listed on the web site. These pages are always changing as homes are found and new dogs are placed into rescue. Please contact the State Coordinator for more information.

If you know of a Brittany who needs a home, please contact your nearest State Coordinator for assistance.
